Daptone Records Announces Concert Film Living on Soul
In December 2014, soul revival label Daptone Records brought its roster to the historic Apollo Theater for a three-night residency. Those shows were filmed and will be featured in the new movie Living on Soul, which is being funded on Kickstarter. Watch a trailer below. Directed by documentary filmmaker Jeff Broadway, it features performances by Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley, Antibalas, the Budos Band, Menahan Street Band, and more. The concert footage is spliced with remembrances from various Daptone artists. Kickstarter rewards for the project include tickets to the movie’s world premiere, a studio tour, autographed Daptone LPs, production credits on the film, and other Daptone rarities.
