Dave Chappelle Speaks at Hometown City Council Meeting on Police Violence: Watch

While Dave Chappelle was notably born in Washington D.C. and grew up in the surrounding suburbs, his father was a professor at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where Chappelle spent his childhood summers. Today, the comedian now lives with his family in Yellow Springs, where he recently made an appearance at a city council meeting to discuss police violence, as the Fader points out. This past New Year’s Eve, two people were tased by police officers during a public New Year’s Eve ball drop celebration in Yellow Springs. Chappelle called the incident a “gaffe,” and “beseeched” the council to take the “opportunity to show everybody that local politics reign supreme.
