Drake, Caribou, Tobias Jesso Jr., The New Pornographers Make Polaris Prize Long List

The long list has been revealed for the 2015 Polaris Music Prize, which honors the best album of the year by a Canadian artist. It includes Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Tobias Jesso Jr.’s Goon, Caribou’s Our Love, The New Pornographers’ Brill Bruisers, Alvvays’ Alvvays, Death From Above 1979′s The Physical World, Braids’ Deep in the Iris, Metz’s II, BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah’s Sour Soul, Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufeld’s Never the Way She Was, White Lung’s Deep Fantasy, Viet Cong’s Viet Cong, and Young Guv’s Ripe 4 Luv

The short list will be announced July 16. The eventual winner will be announced September 21 at the Polaris Music Prize Gala, and will receive $50,000. Last year’s award went to Tanya Tagaq‘s album Animism

The Polaris Prize longlist and shortlist are chosen by a jury of 196 Canadian music journalists, including Pitchfork contributors Stuart Berman, Jamieson Cox, Melody Lau, Calum Marsh, and Renato Pagnani.
