Eagles of Death Metal Audience Member's Ear Bitten Off, Drummer Says

On Saturday night, Eagles of Death Metal performed at the Opera House in Toronto. At the show, a man in the audience “got his ear bitten off,” drummer Jorma Vik said on Facebook, as Toronto’s Aux.tv reports. Vik added, “First time for everything I guess!” Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for the band and Toronto police for comment. Athena Ellinas-Towers, general manager of the Opera House, reportedly said one man was arrested for the incident.

“I didn’t witness anything, but there was a confrontation between two individuals,” Ellinas-Towers told Aux.tv. She added that while the instigator was arrested, she wasn’t aware of the charges against him. As for the detached ear, she said a customer retrieved it and venue personnel “put it on ice” until the ambulance arrived. “This is a first, let’s say,” she’s quoted as saying. “I didn’t actually believe it when someone came up to me and told me what happened. It’s just bizarre.”
