Fabric Appeal Hearing Scheduled for November

Earlier this year, the London nightclub Fabric was closed after the Islington Council revoked the club’s license. The license revocation came after a voluntary closure stemming from two 18-year-old attendees who died of drug overdoses in the span of nine weeks. Since September, the club has been seeking donations to fund an appeal on the council’s decision. While raising £268,445 ($342,244) to date during their #saveourculture campaign, Fabric’s owners moved to start the appeal process.

Today, it was announced on the club’s blog that an appeal hearing has been scheduled for November 28 at Highbury Magistrates Court. The club will continue to publish “transparency statements,” providing a detailed ledger of their expenditures with regards to their legal battles. Numerous artists, including Jon Hopkins, Fourt Tet, and Hudson Mohawke, condemned the club’s closure in September. House duo Disclosure dedicated a recent DJ mix to the club. Fabric will hold the first #saveourculture club night at Great Suffolk St. Warehouse on October 15, which also marks the club’s 17th birthday, featuring Craig Richards and Seth Troxler.
