Flying Lotus, Ad-Rock, Roxanne Shanté Films to Premiere at Sundance

Flying Lotus has announced that his debut feature-length film Kuso will premiere at next year’s Sundance Film Festival. The movie, which features Tim Heidecker and Hannibal Burress, will also have new music from himself, Aphex Twin, Thundercat, and more. It is the full version of his short film Royal.

Elsewhere on the Sundance lineup is Band Aid, directed by and starring Zoe Lister-Jones alongside Adam Pally, Fred Armisen, and more. Band Aid is about a “couple who can’t stop fightingembark on a last-ditch effort to save their marriage: turning their fights into songs and starting a band.” Other music films that will premiere at Sundance include Patti Cake$, about an aspiring female rapper from Jersey, and Roxanne Roxanne, a biopic on hip-hop artist and Juice Crew member Roxanne Shanté. Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock, who has previously acted in films such as Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young, will appear in Alex Ross Perry’s movie Golden Exits.
