GZA Working With Vangelis on New Album

Wu-Tang Clan‘s GZA is hard at work on his new album Dark Matter, so much so that he’s canceled a recent string of tour dates in order to team up with a “very rare collaborator“. He posted the above photo on Instagram of him in the studio with Vangelis—the composer behind Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire.

The term “very rare” gets thrown around pretty frequently, but this really is a rare moment. Though the notoriously reclusive composer’s work has been sampled frequently, this is Vangelis’ first time directly collaborating with a rapper. Prior to his work in film, Vangelis was a member of the prog rock band Aphrodite’s Child.

GZA promises that “brand new material” will surface in the spring.
