J Mascis Talks Adele, Plays Dinosaur Jr. Songs on Maron’s “WTF” : Listen

J Mascis was a guest on today’s episode of Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast. During his brief appearance, Mascis discusses his appreciation for Adele, whom he discovered through an unlikely source: “I got into Adele through ‘The Voice,’” he explains, revealing that former child star Billy Gilman’s rendition of “When We Were Young” encouraged him to check out her catalog. “She has such a cool personality,” he says, “When she’s in the car singing with James Corden, that’s pretty amazing.” Listen here, starting around the 13:30 mark.

Later in the conversation, Mascis recalls Lorde’s performance with Nirvana at the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He also discusses his predilection for performing at yoga centers. Before leaving, he performs two Dinosaur Jr. songs: “Tiny” from last year’s Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not and “Get Me” from 1993’s Where You Been.

Earlier today, Dinosaur Jr. revealed a new career-spanning emoji set. The band recently announced that they will perform the classic You’re Living All Over Me in full at this year’s Riot Fest.
