Jeff Tweedy, Win Butler, Regine Chassagne, and Many Others Cover "The Weight" Live With Mavis Staples
Last night in Chicago dozens of musicians gathered at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre to celebrate Mavis Staples‘ career in an event aptly titled “I’ll Take You There – Celebrating 75 Years Of Mavis Staples”.
The lineup included Jeff Tweedy and his son Spencer, Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, Grace Potter, Bonnie Raitt, Gregg Allman, Emmylou Harris, and many, many others who have collaborated with Staples throughout the years. Over the course of the evening Staples performed “You Are Not Alone” with Jeff Tweedy, and covered the Talking Heads’ “Slippery People” with Win Butler and Regine Chassagne.
