John Cale and Liam Young’s Drone Orchestra Detailed in New Documentary

Back in September, the Velvet Underground‘s John Cale teamed with architect Liam Young to create a performance called “LOOP>>60Hz: Transmissions from the Drone Orchestra”. It took place at the Barbican in London and utilized flying drones as musical instruments. The Creators Project have shared a short documentary about how the performance came together. Some drones carried speakers, which brought Cale’s voice to different areas of the venue. Other drones were equipped with speakers to amplify the hum of their motors. They also wore elaborate costumes.
