John Lennon’s Sgt. Pepper’s Piano, Bob Dylan Lyric Sheets, More Up for Auction

A new Sotheby’s auction, “A Rock & Roll Anthology: From Folk to Fury,” will feature various lots of rock and roll history, as Rolling Stone points out. The most notable items include the upright piano that John Lennon used to write songs off the BeatlesSgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (including “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” “A Day in the Life,” and more), the final handwritten manuscript of the lyrics to Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind,” original paintings created by the late David Bowie, and more. Other Lennon items include the jacket he wore in the film Help!, and lithographic prints of his drawings. The handwritten manuscript of the Eagles’ “Hotel California” is also on the auction block, complete with scrawled edits from Don Henley and Glenn Frey.
