Johnny Marr Announces Autobiography

Johnny Marr has announced his autobiography. Set the Boy Free will span his childhood in 1960s Manchester, through the ascent of the Smiths, and up to his more recent work in Electronic and with Modest Mouse, the Pretenders, the Cribs, the The, and as a solo artist. It’s due out November 3; check out the cover below.

Of the title, Marr said in a statement:

I wanted to convey a feeling of breaking free, that has been a constant throughout my life. A feeling that expresses itself as both escape and discovery. Transcendence. I found it through rock ‘n’ roll and art and a journey living both in the modern world.
