Lee "Scratch" Perry’s Secret Laboratory Studio Destroyed in Fire

Lee “Scratch” Perry‘s Secret Laboratory studio in Switzerland (aka Blue Ark) has been destroyed in a fire after he left a candle burning, the producer revealed yesterday in a Facebook post (via Fact). Items destroyed in the blaze include Perry’s famed stage costumes and “magic hats,” his studio equipment, and many personal possessions. “I am so sad and my wife is so mad,” he wrote.

Perry encouraged fans “that always give me perfect things” at shows to post them to his home address instead, offering guest list spots in return.

Back in the early 1980s, Perry’s legendary Black Ark studio in Jamaica also burned down.
