It is his first release since hinting at retirement, tweeting “I am now defenseless and mentally defeated & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun.” The song includes the lyrics “You don’t see Stunna right next to me, and I won’t see Stunna write checks to me/ They can’t put no more Weezy Baby out, that’s that Cash Money vasectomy,” which are shots at Cash Money label boss Birdman.

There was an outpouring of support for Wayne in the aftermath of the tweet. Artists including Chance the Rapper, Missy Elliott, and Flying Lotus rallied to show their support. Drake released a statement on his Instagram saying, “I don’t know what these other weirdos are on with all the side talks but I know you gave me a shot and all I can ever do with the rest of my life is return the favor.” Earlier today, Kendrick Lamar said “fuck that” to the retirement rumors before rapping along to a Wayne medley.
