Listen to Sleater-Kinney, R.E.M. Members’ New Anti-Trump Song “Despierata”

Filthy Friends is a new band composed of Sleater-Kinney’s Corin TuckerR.E.M.’s Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, Bill Rieflin, and Kurt Bloch. Today, they’ve shared their first song, “Despierata.” It is part of the anti-Donald Trump 30 Days, 30 Songs music series, created by writer Dave Eggers. According to Buck, it will appear on their 2017 debut album, which is “recorded, mixed, and mastered.” Hear “Despierata” below.

In recent weeks, 30 Days, 30 Songs has also released music from EL VY,  Death Cab for CutieFranz FerdinandJim James, Aimee Mann, and more. The entirety of 30 Days’ proceeds will go to the Center for Popular Democracy and their efforts toward Universal Voter Registration for all Americans.
