Moog’s Groundbreaking Minimoog Synth Returns to Full Production

An influential early synth is back on the market. In 1970, Robert Moog unveiled the original Minimoog, “a synthesizer the size of an electric office typewriter.” Known in full as the Minimoog Model D (models A through C were prototypes), the device was in production until 1981 and can be heard on iconic records by Parliament-Funkadelic, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Dr. Dre,  Devo, and many others. In May, Moog Music reintroduced the Minimoog Model D for a “pilot production run” at Moogfest 2016. Now, the Asheville, North Carolina-based analog synth maker has announced it has begun full production once again of the Minimoog Model D.
