My Morning Jacket Sued for Allegedly Disfiguring Driver in Car Accident

My Morning Jacket have been sued for allegedly disfiguring a man in a car accident three years ago in Denver, TMZ reports. On Tuesday, a lawyer for Jim James filed paperwork to move the case to a federal court in Colorado, online court records viewed by Pitchfork show. According to the original complaint, obtained by Pitchfork, Margarito Gonzalez from Denver filed the original lawsuit against Jim James (real name: James Olliges) and My Morning Jacket Tours, Inc., on May 17 in Boulder County District Court.

The lawsuit claimed that James was recklessly driving too close behind Gonzalez’s vehicle. The lawsuit reportedly alleged “pain, suffering, and personal disfigurement” and asked the court to award unspecified damages. The lawsuit also alleged Gonzalez’s injury was so bad he can no longer enjoy life as he once did.

A My Morning Jacket representative declined to comment on the matter to Pitchfork.
