My Morning Jacket's Carl Broemel Announces New Solo Album 4th of July

My Morning Jacket guitarist Carl Broemel has announced his latest solo album, 4th of July. The album will be released August 19 via Stocks in Asia/Thirty Tigers. Listen to the first single, “Sleep Lagoon,” below. Recorded during downtime from My Morning Jacket, Broemel’s new LP features contributions from Neko Case, Laura Veirs, and Jacket bandmates Bo Koster and Tom Blankenship. “To me, I think the record ended up being about borders and grey areas,” Broemel told Pitchfork. ”Those between sleep and wakefulness, between activity and pause, between imagination and reality, between touring and home life.” See the cover artwork and some upcoming solo dates below.
