Mysterious Kendrick Lamar Producer Bekon Unmasked

Mysterious Kendrick Lamar Producer Bekon Unmasked

The credits for Kendrick Lamar’s new album DAMN. solved a couple of mysteries, primarily the one involving “ELEMENT.” co-producer and composer “J. Blake,” who is, indeed, James Blake. One question mark remained over Bekon, an artist credited with production on several tracks, as well as some additional vocals. His identity has now been revealed. Bekon is Daniel Tannenbaum, a producer formerly known as Danny Keyz, he confirmed to Pitchfork. Tannenbaum has worked with a number of high-profile artists. In 2015, he cowrote and sang additional vocals on Dr. Dre’s Compton cut “All in a Day’s Work.” He has also contributed to Eminem’s Recovery, BJ the Chicago Kid’s In My Mind, Snoop’s Doggumentary, Emile Haynie’s We Fall, RZA’s Digi Snacks, and more.

Other DAMN. contributors include Adele producer Greg Kurstin, Thundercat (on “FEEL.”), Kamasi Washington (“LUST.”), and the Internet’s Steve Lacy (“PRIDE.”) See the full credits here. Read “5 Takeaways From Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN.” on the Pitch.
