Johnny Depp will star in the new film Labyrinth, based on the true story of police Detective Russell Poole, the investigator who worked the murder of the Notorious B.I.G. and ultimately theorized that it was a retaliation for the death of Tupac Shakur, the Hollywood Reporter reports. The film is adapted from the 2003 book LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., the Implication of Death Row Records’ Suge Knight, and the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal by Randall Sullivan, and will be directed by The Lincoln Lawyer director Brad Furman. Labyrinth is set to begin shooting later this year, according to Billboard.
