Oscars 2017: Justin Hurwitz Wins Best Original Score For La La Land

Justin Hurwitz’s score for La La Land has won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Hurwitz took the Oscar over Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka (Lion), Mica Levi (Jackie), Nicholas Britell (Moonlight), and Thomas Newman (Passengers). La La Land was nominated for 14 awards tonight, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Ryan Gosling), Best Actress (Emma Stone), Best Director (Damien Chazelle), and Best Original Song.

Earlier in the show, John Legend performed “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” and “City of Stars” from the film. Best Original Score is the film’s third award; it won the awards for Best Cinematography and Best Production Design earlier.
