Heartworn Highways is a 1976 documentary chronicling the rise of outlaw country. Directed by James Szalapski, it featured Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Steve Young, David Allan Coe, Larry Jon Wilson, and others. Over the years, it has developed a cult following. On Record Store Day (April 16), Light in the Attic will release a 40th anniversary box set featuring the film, its soundtrack, and more.

The package, limited to 1,000 copies, comes in a custom wood box. It features a DVD of the film with restored image and sound plus 45 minutes of bonus features. The double LP soundtrack is pressed on whiskey-colored vinyl (with a download card). There’s an 80-page book with interviews, unseen photos, and more. There’s also a reproduction of the original poster.
