Pearl Jam/Soundgarden Supergroup Temple of the Dog Announce First Tour Ever

Temple of the Dog formed in Seattle in 1990. It was composed of  Soundgarden‘s Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam‘s Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready, and the drummer Matt Cameron (who played drums for both bands). The supergroup’s only release was a self-titled album in 1991. Today, they’ve announced their reunion, and their first ever tour. This fall, they’ll hit up five cities, beginning at Philadelphia’s Tower Theater and finishing up at Seattle’s Paramount Theater. In a press release, Chris Cornell shared the band’s reasons for the tour: “We wanted to do the one thing we never got to do … play shows and see what it feels like to be the band that we walked away from 25 years ago.” You can find the complete tour dates below.

Temple of the Dog will also release a 25th anniversary reissue of their self-titled album via UMe on September 30. It will be available in four formats: 4xCD super deluxe, 2xLP, 2xCD, and 1xCD). The reissue was newly mixed by Brendan O’Brien, and the super deluxe edition features 48 unreleased demos, live cuts, and mixes.

Over the years, members of the band have played Temple of the Dog songs together at a handful of shows, but the band never toured together. (During their original run, the band only performed a few times in Seattle in November and December of 1990.) Last year, the band briefly reunited for a show with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.
