Powell Announces New Album Over E-Mail to Fan

Powell has announced a new album. It’s called Sport, and it’ll be out in October via XL. The album was announced unconventionally. Billboards containing Powell’s e-mail address have popped up in London and New York, with the producer encouraging fans to e-mail. As FACT points out, inquiries to the address are returned with a guide on how to interview the producer. Pitchfork was tipped off by a reader who e-mailed Powell, who revealed he was putting out the record in the fall and shared a couple of older songs. Below, find the cover for the new record, as well as the billboards. It’s not Powell’s first foray into the world of billboards. Last year, he e-mailed Steve Albini about authorizing a planned sample of Albini’s Big Black, and later turned Albini’s response into a giant billboard.
