Read Jack White’s Speech on Gender Equality

Today, Jack White was named to a new Nashville council that will study gender equity in the city. During a press conference announcing the council, White gave a speech—the full text of which he’s now made available on Facebook. “all human beings on this planet, and in this society that we live in deserve to be treated the same,” he wrote in the speech. “they deserve to be treated the same in their social lives, and in their financial and business careers as well.” Noting Third Man’s progressive business practices—which include full health insurance, as well as maternal and paternal leave—he wrote, “if my small company can enact these ideas, than so can mcdonalds and general motors.” Read the whole text below.
