RZA and Interpol's Paul Banks Share New Song “Speedway Sonora”: Listen

Wu-Tang Clan‘s RZA and Interpol‘s Paul Banks have shared “Speedway Sonora,” the third single from Anything But Words, their upcoming collaborative project as Banks & Steelz. RZA told Pitchfork that the song was reminiscent of  early Rage Against the Machine and the lyrics were inspired by Zack de la Rocha:

I will say that’s the only song to me that reminds me of early Rage Against the Machine, and when I toured with Rage, Method Man introduced me to their music, and I fell in love with their whole style, and I think that that’s the only song on this record that you could potentially say has any kind of rock/rap influence, and that’s because at that time when I was doing my lyrics, I kind of invoked the idea of my boy Zack.

He also told us the perfect conditions for listening to “Speedway Sonora” involved a leisurely drive down the Pacific Coast Highway: “That song, if you ever come to Cali, you should put that song on while you’re driving down the PCH. Try to get a no-traffic hour. Take it all the way to Malibu, and just keep that song on repeat, and you will really appreciate your day.”

Listen to “Speedway Sonora” below. In recent weeks, they’ve shared “Love + War” and “Giant”. Anything But Words is out August 26.
