Last night, a fire broke out at a warehouse party in Oakland, California, where Los Angeles-based electronic label 100% Silk was holding a show. Golden Donna, Cherushii, Nackt, and more were on the bill. According to the East Bay Times, the fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. PST. with “30 to 70” concertgoers inside the building when the fire began. Fire officials say at least nine people have died as a result of the fire, and another 25 people are unaccounted for; several attendees have been taken to the hospital according to reports from the party’s Facebook event. As of 4 a.m. PST, the fire “had not been officially declared under control,” with fire crews planning to remain “on scene for several more hours” according to the Oakland fire department’s Twitter account. 100% Silk called the fire an “unbelievable tragedy, a nightmare scenario” and has provided a list of resources to keep posted on the situation; find their statement below.
