Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo Subject of New Documentary

Sonic Youth‘s Lee Ranaldo is the subject of a new documentary called In Doubt, Shadow Him!. As The Wire reports, the Arnaud Maguet-directed film is coming this December via Hifiklub. It will be available as a DVD accompanied by a double 10″ vinyl soundtrack. Watch the trailer below via FACT.

The film is described as a “drift” and features a score by Ranaldo and Hifiklub recorded at Sonic Youth’s studio. DNA’s Ikue Mori, Nels Cline, guitarist Alan Licht, composer Phill Niblock, Robin Rimbaud (aka Scanner), the poet John Giorno, Velvet Monkeys’ Don Fleming, and others contributed to the film.

Maguet’s previous films include I Am a Genius (And There’s Nothing I Can Do About It), which focuses on R. Stevie Moore, and Plans Make Gods Laugh (A Drift About Alain Johannes), which follows Queens of the Stone Age member Alain Johannes.

In the years post-Sonic Youth, Ranaldo has released two solo albums: Between the Times and the Tides and Last Night on Earth.
