St. Vincent and Wire to Collaborate for Wire’s DRILL: Chicago Festival
Post-punk legends Wire have been putting on a series of festivals called DRILL. The fest comes to Chicago from June 11-13. One of the big highlights: St. Vincent will join Wire to perform an extended version of the Wire song “Drill”.
The festival will also features a headlining performance from Wire, plus sets by Tim Hecker, White Lung, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Disappears, and others. Wire will also collaborate with jazz artist Ken Vandermark on a new version of 154‘s “Map Ref. 41°N 93°W”. The festival’s finale will feature an all-star performance of “Pink Flag” from Wire’s landmark 1977 album. Find the complete list of events here.
There will also be a taping of WBEZ’s syndicated radio show “Sound Opinions” featuring Wire.
At a previous installment of DRILL, Wire performed “Drill” with Swans.
