St. Vincent, Peter Gabriel Help Scientists Make Playlists Tuned to Your Body

The Sync Project is a research project looking at the effect that music has on human health, by charting how songs played in music apps like Spotify match up with biometric data provided by health apps and wearable technology. Yesterday, the Sync Project announced it’s enlisted four musicians to serve as advisers on the study, as the Boston Globe reports. Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent), Peter Gabriel, Jon Hopkins, and Finnish composer Esa-Pekka Salonen will work with researchers. “They’re all people who have very creatively used technology and developed products themselves,” Sync Project co-founder Marko Ahtisaari told the Globe. He also said the Sync Project’s goal is to create a “biometric recommendation engine for music that is tailored to your body.” Playlists customized to your body? We’ve got one suggestion along those lines: Crank up “Solsbury Hill,” and let it make you feel good.
