T.I. to Appear in "Roots" Remake

A&E Network is planning a remake of the landmark TV miniseries “Roots”. It does not yet have an airdate, but it will run in four two-hour installments. T.I. is set to appear in the final installment as Cyrus, a slave who fights for the Union Army against the Confederacy, Variety reports.

“Roots” premiered in 1977, and is based on the 1976 Alex Haley novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family. The Roots’ ?uestlove is serving as the executive music producer for the remake. Other stars of the series include Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, James Purefoy, and Mekhi Phifer.

T.I. has appeared in TV and movies numerous times throughout his career. He has been on Showtime’s “House of Lies” and Starz’s “Boss”, as well as in movies such as Ant-Man and American Gangster.

T.I. released Da’ Nic EP earlier this year.
