The Roots Pull Out of David Bowie Tribute Concerts, Citing "Bitchassness"

The Roots were set to play both of the massive David Bowie tribute concerts at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall in New York, which take place tomorrow and Friday night. Now, Questlove has revealed that the band will no longer be playing, and neither will Kimbra or Bilal. In an Instagram post (below), he alludes to a dispute over shared equipment. ”We have patience. But we do NOT have patience for the #Bitchassness,” he wrote. “Enjoy your precious equipment.” Questlove’s music site Okayplayer is the exclusive media partner for both tribute concerts. Bilal was just added to the concerts’ lineup on Monday. Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for the Bowie concerts for comment.
