The Shins Are Giving Away Their First Tour Van
In anticipation of their upcoming album Heartworms, the Shins have announced that they will give away their first tour van in a new contest. Fans can enter to win the band’s 1990 Ford 350 Clubwagon (bought with their first advance from Sub Pop and used to tour the country for many years) by submitting covers of songs from Heartworms on social media using the hashtag #ShinsVanContest. James Mercer will select the winner. In a video, Mercer says the van has been “going to waste,” and explains, “It ought to be passed on to a band that uses it to get out there and play shows and spread their music.” Find more information on the van contest here. Heartworms is out Friday via Aural Apothecary/Columbia. It features previously released tracks “Dead Alive,” “Name For You,” “Mildenhall,” and “Painting a Hole.”
