Back in January, Abel Tesfaye (aka the Weekndwas arrested in Las Vegas for allegedly punching a police officer. He has now pleaded no contest in a Vegas court and will avoid jail time, TMZ reports.

According to the original report from January, police arrived at the Cromwell Hotel around 4:20 a.m. to find Tesfaye in the middle of a fight. An officer apparently pulled Tesfaye into an elevator, and that’s when he allegedly punched the officer in the head.

As part of his plea, Tesfaye is required to pay $1,000 to an injured cop fund and complete anger management, as well as an alcohol evaluation, according to TMZ. In addition, he will have to complete 50 hours of community service, which the judge will let him do at a non-profit group in his native Canada. The case will be dismissed if Tesfaye meets the requirements and avoids further legal trouble.
