Toro Y Moi, Speedy Ortiz, Dan Deacon on Basketball-Themed Carpark Records Anniversary Comp

The Washington, D.C./Brooklyn label Carpark has put out records by Toro Y Moi, Beach House, Dan Deacon, Cloud Nothings, Speedy Ortiz, and others. This year, they’re celebrating their 16th birthday, and to mark the occasion, they’re planning a concert series and 12″ compilation featuring unreleased tracks. The basketball-themed picture disc (pictured above) comes with nine exclusive songs and 19 locked grooves. It’s out May 26 in a limited edition of 600, and all proceeds go to Little Kids Rock, a charity that supports K-12 music education. It includes the Skylar Spence (formerly Saint Pepsi) track “Practice”, which you can listen to above. (Yes, it samples Allen Iverson.) Toro Y Moi, Speedy Ortiz, Dan Deacon, TEEN, Memory Tapes, and more also contribute tracks. Find the full tracklist below.

Carpark are also putting on shows in Brooklyn, Austin, and Washington, D.C. in March, featuring Cloud Nothings, Skylar Spence, Dent May, and more. For the Austin show, “Average Cock” is on the bill… a pseudonym Speedy Ortiz have used in the past. The first 50 guests to arrive at each show will receive a free anniversary T-shirt.
