Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear, TV on the Radio Playing Bernie Sanders Rallies in New York City

This week, Vampire Weekend and Grizzly Bear will each play campaign events for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders in New York City, Brooklyn Vegan reports. Tomorrow, Ezra Koenig and company will perform at a rally in Manhattan’s Washington Square Park, which will also feature appearances from Spike Lee, Rosario Dawson, Shailene Woodley, Linda Sarsour, Tim Robbins, and Graham Nash. On Sunday, Grizzly Bear will perform at a similar event in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, joined by Danny DeVito, Justin Long, and Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. It’ll be their first show in over two years. Both events are free and open to the public. New York’s primary is on Tuesday, April 19. Update (5:14 p.m.): TV on the Radio are joining in: the Brooklyn band will play a Sanders rally in Queens the night before the primary, as Brooklyn Vegan points out. Danny Glover and Fisher Stevens will also make appearances at the free event at Hunter’s Point South Park on Monday, April 18. RSVP here.

Yesterday, Ed Droste visited Columbia University and NYU to raise awareness for the candidate. (Find an Instagram photo of his visit to the former campus below, accompanied by Woodley, Kal Pen, and more.) Earlier this year, Vampire Weekend performed at a Sanders rally in Iowa. Other musicians that have expressed support for Sanders include Killer Mike, Jenny Lewis, Best Coast, and Bon Iver; over the weekend, REM’s Michael Stipe introduced the candidate at a Coney Island rally.
