A Tribe Called Quest to Honor Phife Dawg at NYC Park

A Tribe Called Quest have announced an event at Queens, New York’s St. Albans Park to honor their late founding member Phife Dawg, who died last month. “The Celebration of Phife” takes place Monday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. They promise “the first 200 fans to arrive will receive something very special.”

The Celebration of Phife follows Q-Tip’s two-hour tribute mix for Phife on “Abstract Radio.” Several other artists including Questlove, Chris Rock, Chance the Rapper, Mac Miller, Busta Rhymes, Wiz Khalifa, and more have paid tribute to Phife Dawg, too. Tim Westwood also shared an unreleased freestyle of his from 1999. And Terrace Martin released “Tribe Called West,” a song inspired by Tribe as a whole. Even WWE wrestlers led a “Can I Kick It?” chant at an event in Brooklyn.
