Bruce Springsteen Announces The River Box Set

Bruce Springsteen will release a new box set, The Ties That Bind: The River Collection on December 4 via Columbia Records. In addition to 1980′s The River, the 4CD, 3DVD box set will feature previously-unreleased music, never before seen concert footage from 1980, and a new documentary about The River called “The Ties That Bind”. Check out the 55-song tracklist here.

Specifically, The Ties That Bind: The River Collection will consist of the original The River double album, the first official release of The River: Single Album (the 10-track album that Springsteen recorded in 1979 as a follow up to 1978′s Darkness On The Edge Of Town, which was never released).

The set will also contain a CD of studio outtakes from 1979-1980 (The River: Outtakes), as well as a two-DVD film of previously-unreleased, newly edited footage from a 1980 show in Tempe, Arizona (“Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: The River Tour, Tempe 1980″). It will also include rare tour rehearsal footage, the “The Ties That Bind” documentary, and a coffee table book of 200 rare photos and memorabilia. The liner notes will include an essay by Mikal Gilmore, the original Rolling Stone album review from 1980, and the Boss’s updated comments about the album.
