The Decemberists Launch New Board Game Illimat

The Decemberists have announced a new board game, Illimat. Created in collaboration with award-winning game designer Keith Baker and the band’s long-time illustrator Carson Ellis, the new game is based off a fake prop board game that was initially developed in 2009 for a photoshoot. Illimat is a 2-4 player game, and goes by quickly; a single hand can be played in fifteen minutes. “Playing board games before going on stage has become a ritual,” said the band’s lead singer Colin Meloy. Baker developed the game with input from Meloy and the rest of the band, while Ellis handled all the illustration. You can reserve your copy of the game now by backing the band’s KickstarterIllimat has already surpassed its goal of $42,812.

Last fall, the Decemberists released their own wine, Bandit Queen Pinot Noir. Earlier this year, it was announced that Meloy and Ellis had created a children’s book about Pete Seeger.
