The Orb Stream New Album Moonbuilding 2703 AD, Announce Tour
This April, the Orb announced their return to legendary electronic label Kompakt for Moonbuilding 2703 AD, their first new record since 2012′s Lee “Scratch” Perry collaboration The Orbserver in the Star House. Now, ahead of its release on June 23, you can stream the album in full. They’ve also announced tour dates around the world. Check those out, along with the stream, below.
The album comprises four long tracks, with three more (including a J Dilla tribute) set for the deluxe vinyl edition.
Speaking in a press release about the record, Orb member Alex Paterson says:
“It’s a solid piece of music that mutates into an eight legged lunar Land Rover and takes off into a cosmic horizon of a million sounds, patterns and textures. It spins the listener on his/her head, rewiring their brains to maximum capacity, then brings them home, sweet home. ‘MOONBUILDING 2703 AD’ is inspired by this place called earth and the idea that in the future mankind discovers its root element in the ancient rocks on solar moons, which are based on musical harmonies, that despite being imprinted a billion lights years ago, are set to the same tempo as the Orb.”
